F.A.Q

End-of-stay cleaning is included in our rates. We simply ask you to put your garbage bags in the containers outside and to pick up after your pets before you leave. You are responsible for cleaning during your stay.
Yes, the whole property is enclosed! The garden at the rear of the cottage is enclosed by a wire fence. The area in front of the cottage is enclosed by a wooden fence. The terrace is enclosed by a gate.
No, we don’t accept vacation vouchers at the moment.
Our cottage is located 3.4 km from Vichy’s central district. It only takes 10 minutes by car to get there.
Of course we do! We wouldn’t dream of you going on vacation and leaving your pets behind 😉 However, for reasons of space, we limit the number of pets to three.
No, there is no air conditioning in the cottage. However, the cottage is not exposed to the heat for several reasons: its east-west orientation makes the cottage a bright place while reducing exposure to the heat in summer, and its wooded surroundings provide welcome shade in summer … so you can spend the whole afternoon in the garden and on the terrace at the back of the cottage without suffering from the heat 🙂
In summer, during heatwaves, we recommend that you close all the shutters on the east (front) and south sides, as this greatly reduces solar radiation. During these periods, fans are installed in the upstairs bedrooms and a misting fan in the living room.
Here is the list of equipment in our ‘baby kit’, available free of charge on request: 2 folding beds (fitted sheets, 1 under-sheet), 2 mosquito nets, nightlight, babyphone, multi-position high chair, booster seat, changing table + mattress/cover, bouncy chair, bath and bath toys, children’s bath cape, early-learning mats, first-age toys, baby potty/toilet adaptor, bottle warmer, baby crockery/cutlery, cups with and without caps, glass baby bottles (without teats) for emergency use if necessary, duck buggy.
Steps are also provided in the kitchen and bathroom for the comfort of the little ones 🙂
At the Refuge des Vaures, we think it’s best to lighten your bags and your mind on the eve of departure 🙂 We provide all the towels and household linen. For each person: 1 maxi bath sheet, 1 towel, 1 flannel. You will also find 2 or 3 bath mats in the bathrooms (depending on the floor) as well as a small ‘guest towel’.
The Refuge des Vaures offers a range of on-site activities for adults and children alike. The activities have been designed around 3 themes: discovering and protecting biodiversity, learning about an eco-responsible approach, and creating an object while having fun. Most of the activities can be carried out independently using the kit provided, while others can be done in workshops with Marie-Stéphanie. Please note that some activities are subject to conditions (seasonality, price, number of participants). For more information, visit our blog.

activities at vichy

The ‘Programme of the week’ button below shows the agenda of activities in and around Vichy for the current week. This document is sent to tourism partners by the Vichy Tourist Office every Friday. It is therefore updated on Sunday at the earliest 🙂
You can also consult the full calendar directly on the tourist office’s website, Vichy Mon Amour, by clicking here.
A calendar of events is also available in the digital welcome booklet I created for the gîte. Events are listed according to their geographical distance from the gîte.

You can also find ideas for outings by consulting the digital welcome booklet that I created for the cottage. Under the headings ‘Tourism’ and ‘Nearby leisure activities’, you can find out about activities in the surrounding area, according to their geographical distance from the cottage.
During your stay, don’t hesitate to consult the tourist binders I make available at the entrance. I’ve recently added a booklet specifically for ‘outdoor’ activities!
